Michelle Zauner is a Korean American musician, singer, and writer best known as the frontwoman of the indie rock band Japanese Breakfast. Born in 1989 in Seoul, South Korea, she was raised in Eugene, Oregon. She studied creative writing and film at Bryn Mawr College before pursuing music.
Zauner's music career took off after she began writing songs to process her mother Chongmi's death from cancer.
