Track uncertainty and missing coverage
Mark inferred contacts, concealed areas, sparse samples, detection limits, dating uncertainty, and disputed correlations. A useful assistant should surface these gaps rather than smooth them away. Keep a list of field checks or additional sources that could change the interpretation.
Build an auditable field-to-report chain
Link every report claim to a map location, sample identifier, image, table, or cited paper. Preserve original wording for formal unit descriptions and distinguish quotation from paraphrase. The final note should let another student retrace the evidence without depending on the assistant conversation.
